How can we help?

Email [email protected]. Include the app version, your iPhone or iPad model and what happened. Do not send passwords or payment information.

Choose your news sources

Open the Sources tab and turn on the publishers you want to follow. Headlines from the sources you turn on appear in your news list.

Browse by publisher or topic

The Latest tab lists stories newest first, grouped by the hour they were published. Use the tabs under the title (Nation, Business, Sports, Showbiz…) to pick a topic. Tap the filter button at the top right to show one publisher, or All publishers to see everything.

Add your own RSS feed

Open Sources → Add RSS feed and paste the link of a news RSS feed (it usually ends in /rss, /feed or .xml). The app checks that the link works and adds the feed under its own name. To remove it, swipe left on it in the Sources tab. Feeds you add stay on your device.

Why does a story open on the publisher's site?

Phil Headlines shows the headline, a short excerpt and the photo that each publisher shares in its public news feed. The full story belongs to the publisher, so it opens on the publisher's own web page inside the app. Patcell does not write or edit news.

Reading offline

Without a connection, the app shows the headlines it last downloaded. Full stories need a connection, because they open on the publisher's website.

Saved stories

Stories you save stay on your iPhone or iPad. They are not sent to Patcell, and uninstalling the app removes them.

Remove Ads and restoring the purchase

Remove Ads is an optional one-time purchase that removes the ads in the news list. Bought it on another device or after reinstalling? Open Settings → Restore purchase, signed in with the same Apple ID you used to buy it.

More from Patcell

Settings → More from Patcell lists other games and apps made by Patcell. Some ad places in the news list may show one of them, labelled “Ad · From Patcell”. Tap “I already have this game” to stop seeing one.

A source does not load

The publisher's website may be down, slow or blocking requests for a while. Try again later, or turn that source off in the Sources tab.
